About the LCBA
In 1940, local attorneys informally gathered as the Lane County Bar Association. In 1976, LCBA directors opted to formally register as a 501(c)(6) non-profit business association. Membership is open to attorneys, judges, law school faculty, law students, legal staff and professionals in affiliated law-adjacent industries. The LCBA acts by and through a board of ten elected leaders. For more info, see LCBA Board of Directors.
Towards those ends, the LCBA exists to equip members with a variety of educational, business and social resources. These resources include focus groups (Sections), monthly member luncheons (generally 2nd Thursdays) and seasonal Events, CLE credit, monthly newsletter, and annual awards and public recognition of distinguished members.
Many of our Sections host their own luncheons & special events for more focused discourse and networking. LCBA membership includes the option to engage with LCBA Sections and attend Section events.
We currently organize two to three major seasonal events for our members every year: this typically includes our Winter Social (December), Spring Bash (April/May) to recognize honorees of our annual Awards, and a summer family friendly event.
The LCBA shares information primarily through email and our website. We also publish a monthly newsletter called the Bar News which includes legal announcements, upcoming events, job opportunities, available office space, etc. Submissions to the Bar News are due by the 20th each month and may be emailed HERE.
Together, our board is a dedicated group committed to helping members connect with a collegial local network of attorneys for knowledge, mentorship, support, and resources to enhance the practice of law.
We invite you to join or renew your membership HERE.
